With Audrey getting a perm in Bay Ridge, I choose not to go to the beach. I will compare 2 cheap beers by all standards. Generally the only way to pay 50 cents per 12 ounces is to get a 24 oz. can of Coors/Coors Lite or one of the ice beers. Here we have 2 of that variety; I did have to buy a case/6-pak respectively to get the excellent price. On we go:
Northern (Reserve) Golden Beer: Color-Golden yellow Nose-Non descript First taste-Strong first burst Observations-Not much taste lingers Fizziness-Rim head; active bubbles Where Brewed? Cold spring, MN. Cost-21 cents per 12 ozs. Style(Type)-Lager Aftertaste-Not memorable Rating-4
Old Harbour Pilsner Lager: Color-Light yellow Nose-Slight First Taste-Full mouth Observations-Not lasting Fizziness-Frothy head; many active bubbles Where Brewed? Utica, NY Cost-50 cents per 12 ozs. Style(Type) Pilsner Lager Aftertaste-Metallic Rating-4.5
Final Thought-If you're looking for a cheap drunken binge, these are both excellent choices. They are not to be sipped and savored.
