Audrey is spending extra time fund raising at her school during curriculum night. I plan on joining her for an hour and a half following my beer baron duties of checking out 2 domestic examples of Belgium style ales.
Saranac Belgian Ale: Color-Clear dark amber Nose-Sweet First taste-Smooth Observations-Taste holds steady Where Brewed? Utica, NY Fizziness-Mild head; many active bubbles Cost-$1.05 Description-Fruity Ale w/ Belgian aromatic malt Aftertaste-Back throat Rating-7
Victory Golden Monkey: Color-Cloudy Golden Nose-Funky sweet First taste-Full mouth Observations-Can taste alcohol Where brewed? Downingtown, Pa. Fizziness-Rim head; few bubbles Cost-Gift Description-Tripel ale w/ spices; 9.5% alc. Aftertaste-Still strong Rating-7
Final thought-Not really competing ales since Golden Monkey is a Belgian tripel; Saranac is a straight Belgian ale.
